Girls Camp 2008

This year for Girls Camp we went up to Island Park to the boys scout camp they put on for girls. It was an awesome experience. We swam the first day which was a killer. We had to swim 70 feet in one direction and then swim back and do it one more time. I was worried that I wasn't going to pass, since I'm not much of a swimmer, but surprisingly finished.
The camp puts on quite a few different activities, which was great because it was less work for me as camp director ;) The girls did the low course one day. That was basically just going through different obstacles and trusting in your teammates. The next day we did the high course. Wow, what a killer!! It's a course that is 30 feet up in the air. You are all harnessed in (like you would be on a climbing wall). All the girls had gone before me and I sat there and watched how it was such a piece of cake for them. When it got to be my turn, I was fine until I looked down and I realized that my legs were just shaking. What took them maybe 10 minutes to do took me about a half an hour. I made it up the ladder and decided to take the easiest way possible to the middle post. I finally made it and then took my dear sweet time to make up my mind that I was going down the zip line. This was a huge challenge for me, but I had to show the girls that if they oould do this then I could, right.
They had a shooting and archery range that we were able to participate in also. I really hope that the girls had a good time at camp this year, but especially hope that they were able to get something spiritual out of it. They are such strong girls and know what they want in life. They teach me way more than I can teach them as one of their leaders. Enjoy the slide below!!
